Below you will find our “10 commandments” for planning during the months / weeks before leaving:
01. How do I finance my stay: Is it possible to get a scholarship?
02. Which vaccinations are necessary?
03. Do I have all necessary insurance?
04. Are all my documents valid (passport, identity card, etc.)?
05. What methods of payment do I need for my trip?
06. Is everything organised for the journey: for example the train to the airport, the pick-up at my destination?
07. Travel luggage: not too much, not too little?
08. Have I collected all the useful addresses for my destination: general and emergency contact information?
09. Have all formalities been considered, for example an international driving licence, etc?

10. Is the return journey organised?

I think this checklist is very good. Another think one should think about is how to stay in touch with family and friends. To buy a prepaid card in UK is for me absolutely neccessary and I also bought a cute little Netbook. I installed Ubuntu on it and bought a SD Card for more memory and now it's perfect. Skype is for me the best alternative to keep in contact. Another thing I did was to buy a Kindle. I'm a real bookworm and so that's a good investion for me. ;) Definitely. Feel free to recommend me books. :D 

I booked a flight with EasyJet, a budget flight. It was a bit difficult to book because you have to add and buy for everything extra, but well, what to expect - it's a budget flight. I'll tell you afterwards how it was.

Since one suitcase wouldn't be enough I'm going to send cardboard boxes with clothes and shoes to the UK. I used this site Posttip to find a favourable package service. Let's hope my clothes and shoes will arrive safe and sound. ;) I'll keep you posted.

Ich finde diese Checkliste sehr gut. Auch sollte man überlegen, wie man mit der Familie und den Freunden in Kontakt bleiben kann. Ich werde mir auf jeden Fall in England eine SIM Karte kaufen und habe mir jetzt schon ein kleines Netbook gekauft. Nachdem ich Ubuntu darauf installiert habe und dazu noch eine extra SD Speicherkarte, ist es jetzt perfekt. Skype ist natürlich die beste Möglichkeit in Kontakt zu bleiben!
Außerdem habe ich mir noch einen Kindle gekauft, da ich eine absolute Leseratte bin und es sich mit Büchern etwas schwierig gestaltet hätte. Für mich also eine absolute Investition! :D Ich freue mich über jeden Buchvorschlag! ;)

Den Flug habe ich bei EasyJet einer Billigfluggesellschaft gebucht. Die Buchung hat sich etwas schwierig gestaltet, da man jede Kleinigkeit extra hinzubuchen und bezahlen muss, aber was soll man anderes von einem Billigflug erwarten. Ich erzähl euch später wie es war.

Da mir ein Koffer nicht reicht, werde ich noch zwei weitere Kartons nach England schicken. Hilfreich war hierbei die Seite Posttip, mit der man über den Tarifrechner günstige Paketservices finden kann. Hoffentlich kommt dann auch alles sicher an. ;) Ich halte euch auf dem Laufendem.
